Snowy Range Mountains, Wyoming

Well, the day starts out well.... An antelope right next to the road near Cheyenne
Na, der Tag fängt ja gut an, eine Pronghorn Antilope gleich neben der Straße

A a bit further this wonderful animal
Und ein Stückchen weiter dieser herrliche Bock

Wyoming has plans to install thousands of these Wind Turbines
Der Staat Wyoming plant tausende dieser Turbinen hier aufzustellen

Wir fahren in die Berge. Auf der Prärie rechts und links haben wir noch viele Pronghorns gesehen

We saw quite a few more pronghorn on the grasslands to the right and left

We saw thousands, maybe even millions, of dead trees in Colorado and Wyoming
Wir haben Tausende, vielleicht sogar Millionen, toter Bäume in Colorado und Wyoming gesehen.
Der Pine Beetle (Pinienkäfer) ist am Werk.

Did you say you saw a Moose? - Well, Una spotted one,
and we turned the car around to take these teleshots.

Hat einer Elch gerufen? - Una hat einen gesehen. Also
haben wir umgedreht und nochmal nachgeschaut. Hier sind die Teleaufnahmen.

Er steht im Wasser und futtert (ja, ich weiß, in der Jägersprache heißt das äsen).

Moose are actually rather rare in these Parts. So we are extremely lucky to have seen them here.
Elche sind eigentlich extrem selten in dieser Gegend. Wir haben riesiges Glück gehabt, daß wir diese sehen konnten.

Serene Mountain Lake and Snow Fields

One the way doen the pass we saw this moose cow in a pasture. A bull was also there, but he disappeared before I could take a picture.
Auf dem weg runter vom Pass haben wir dann noch diese Elchkuh gesehen. Ein Bulle war auch noch da, aber er ist in's Gestrüpp gezogen.

Saratoga, Wyoming

A short stop in a small town
Ein kleiner Stop in einer kleinen Stadt

The historic Wolf Hotel and (as we were told) good Restaurant
Ein altes Hotel und (wie man sagte) ein gutes Restaurant

Medicine Bow, Wyoming

A little later and further on, another Stop at a famous Hotel and Restaurant
Und etwas später und weiter, wieder ein Halt an einem Hotel und Restaurant

This Hotel is where Owen Wister wrote the very first Western Novel "The Virginian"
Several movies and TV series were base on the novel

In diesem Hotel hat Owen Wister den allerersten Wildwestroman geschrieben. Er hieß "The Virginian".
Mehrere Filme und Fernsehserien wurden darüber gedreht.

The rooms at the hotel are a bit old and the furniture shows quite a bit of wear
Die Zimmer sind ein wenig altmodisch, und das Mobiliar hat auch schon wesentlich besser Tage gesehen

Tomorrow we will say Bye Bye to Cheyenne
and travel across Wyoming to Salt Lake City in Utah

Morgen heißt es Abschied nehmen von Cheyenne,
dann geht es quer durch Wyoming nach Salt Lake City in Utah
